Keep in Communication The Cheapest Way to Stay in Contact while on Vacation

Going on vacation is easily one of the most rewarding experiences of the entire year. The toughest part for most while on vacation, though, is staying in contact. Let’s face it long distance rates aren’t cheap. If you compound that with the varying time zones you may be experiencing during your next vacation, staying in touch by traditional phone lines is tough. There are many reasons you might need to stay in contact. Perhaps you have some upcoming deadlines at the office. As a result, you may need to stay in constant contact with your employees to make sure those deadlines will be met. Maybe you simply feel like you should spend a half hour each day checking your voice mail and responding to those kinds of messages. Perhaps you need to check on the kids each day to make sure your house hasn’t been destroyed while it was entrusted to them. Checking on the pets you left with the neighbors might also be an important factor for you. However, if you start to factor in the sheer number of costs associated with your vacation already the airfare, the hotel rooms, the food, the entertainment costs you may find there just isn’t enough left for costly contact methods. There are many other inexpensive ways to stay in touch while you’re on vacation. Choosing the perfect way can help to put your mind at ease.

One great way to stay in touch while you’re on vacation is through the use of your laptop computer. If your laptop is fairly new, you probably have a wireless card installed. If that’s the case, and you have a bit of background knowledge, you can stay in touch for free while you’re out and about during your next bit of vacation time. The primary way to do this is to find locations in the area where you will be that offer free WiFi access. Many restaurants, coffee shops, public libraries, and hotels offer you free WiFi access while you are within three hundred feet of their location. As a result, you can simply log on to the Internet, connect to your e-mail, and stay in touch with the people you need to. Even if you will be in a location without free WiFi access, many other companies offer paid WiFi access. Wireless companies like Sprint, T-Mobile, and Cingular offer day passes for about ten bucks. As long as you are within the range of one of these hotspots, you can have unlimited Internet access for the low price of ten dollars. Your access lasts about twenty-four hours with one of these companies. You can, of course, purchase more access for a fee. If e-mail is a good way for you to stay in touch, consider WiFi access via your laptop.

Internet access via your handheld computer or cellular phone may also be another option for you. Many companies offer access, for a monthly fee, via your BlackBerry, Palm, or other handheld computing device. This not only allows you to check your e-mail while you are out, it may also allow you to check your company’s project database, or check in with other companies you need to contact while you are away. This can be a great alternative to carrying a bulky laptop, and you don’t have any need to find a WiFi hotspot, because you will already be connected via your cellular service.

Another inexpensive way to stay in touch during your vacation is through your cellular phone. It is important to look carefully at the agreements of your plan, as all of the calls you will make will be charged as long distance. If your plan doesn’t cover long distance, you might consider upgrading to a different plan while you are on vacation.

If you don’t have a cellular phone, or you are looking for an even cheaper option to take advantage of during your vacation, you might consider investing in a prepaid phone. Prepaid cellular phones are an excellent short-term solution to all of your contact problems. Prepaid cellular phones have only become popular in recent years, but that popularity has made them very famous. Now you can even walk into a truck stop or your local Wal-Mart and pick up a prepaid cellular phone to meet all of your needs. Most of the phones display the minutes you have used and the minutes you have left. You can regulate your costs easily with a prepaid phone, and you will know as soon as you open the package exactly what the phone will cost you. Even if you intend to travel abroad, a prepaid cellular phone is still an option for you. You should check the specific prepaid phone you purchase, though, to be sure that international calling is part of your plan.

Staying in touch while you are on vacation may be a matter of life and death for you. If this is the case, plan ahead for your next vacation, and it is possible that you will find the right method of staying in touch for you.

Resolved Question: What is the best CREDIT CARD to have, in terms of no fees WHATSOEVER and good deal overall?
Keep in mind I hate HAVING DEBTS at the end of the month, if it were up to me I would not even HAVE a credit card like ever (how unconventional and weird, I know) I rather have the money taken directly at the moment I pay which is what happens with a debit card, but as I understand it, I need to have some sort of credit if I’m ever going to be accepted for a mortgage on my future house or to buy a car or things like that,…. otherwise I have no credit and that’s a bad thing? So I need a card which is accepted everywhere and simply is the BEST deal out there with everything it provides. Considering I will be using it as little as I need to get some decent credit (while you’re at it, also tell me what credit should I have, like the amount and period of time over which it will accrue… clear explanations would be great) Your personal advice is really appreciated.

Seven Tips to Choosing the (tourism agent help) Best Budget Vacation for your Family

Seven Tips to Choosing the Best Budget Vacation for your Family

You have finally managed to push through your vacation request, and for one glorious week you are free from the time clock, the merciless schedule of meetings, production deadlines, and irate customer phone calls. The kids are out of school, and you want to take the vacation of a lifetime that will bond your family, and build beautiful memories. Unfortunately, you also have to consider your bank account, and while traveling is a wonderful experience, you will still need to pay the mortgage, the credit cards, and the utilities.

Will you be able to put together an unforgettable getaway for your family or will you be hampered by your fiscal obligations? Here are seven tips to choosing the best budget vacation for your family:

Decide what you want to do and take into account the preferences of every member of the family. For example, you want to have a get-back-to-nature kind of vacation, but your spouse hates to camp. The kids want to ride their dirt bikes, but are not big on hiking. Your spouse wants culture. What will you do? While previously you may chosen a destination that suited one or two family members, while leaving others grumbling and unhappy, consider choosing the kind of vacation spot that will permit everyone to do what they enjoy, and thereby with a little bit of compromise, you will be able to have the kind of vacation that appeals to the whole family. Choose a budget vacation that offers a wide variety of activities in and around the vacation spot of your choice. Some resorts will even throw in free boat rentals, guest passes to local attractions, and discounts off local dining experiences if you stay during the off-season!

Once you have narrowed down the activities you would like to participate in, consider the location you would like to visit. Do you want to travel to another state? Do you want to stay in state? If you choose to stay in state, remember that there are many attractions, such as amusement parks, which will offer special discounts to residents.

If you want to try something you have never done before, such as bike touring, research the outfitters in the local area. Some will offer complimentary bike helmets whereas others will charge for them. Do not be afraid to ask for freebies!

Scour travel brochures and also the Internet for coupons. Special offers may be found on many websites as well as in many travel magazines that cater to traveling families. Clipping some coupons will permit you to save quite a bit of money and will further stretch your budget. In addition to the foregoing, ask for seasonal specials, early bird specials, and other times of the day or during the week when rates may be reduced.

Consider renting a recreational vehicle. If your family is up to an adventure on wheels, you will be able to visit many wonderful vacation spots instead of simply being stuck in one location. While it is true that renting an RV and filling up the gas tank may be pricey, consider the money you are saving on hotel accommodations and restaurant meals, and you will soon be able to break even!

Give each traveler a budget. When visiting new locations it is so tempting to buy trinkets and other memorabilia that will later on linger in drawers and soon be forgotten. Instead permit each traveler an age appropriate budget which they may use at their discretion with the understanding that once they spent the money, there will be no more. This will help you to preserve the family travel budget while still permitting everyone to bring something home from the vacation.

Last but not least, be sure to talk to your travel agent about family vacation packages. Resorts will oftentimes offer special family rates in between big events or during the off-season.

As you can see, a family vacation does not have to be pricey, and it does not have to cater to only one or two family members tastes. Nowadays, accommodations will be enjoyable for all, while activities will have something for everyone to participate in.

There are some unique advantages with discount printer ink from this company. As another aspect of the present invention, the discount printer ink maintains information preferably on the print cartridge relating to the difference between the initial weight of a full cartridge and the net weight of the ink ejected from the cartridge.

The discount printer ink cartridge then receives a new print head, is refilled with printer ink, and is tested to guarantee print quality.

Great Ideas on Packing for your Sunny Cruising Adventure

You have finally booked your cruise and are ready for the adventure of a lifetime! You are looking forward to the tables laden with scrumptious foods, the visits to exotic locations, and the rest and relaxation you will enjoy poolside. You cannot wait to finally get on board, but suddenly you realize that you do not know what to wear and what to bring. Should you pack for cold weather, warm weather, or somewhere in-between? After you take some time to take out of your closet everything you think you will need, you realize that you will not have enough suitcases to accommodate the load of clothes and accessories you see before you never mind the fact that it will take a small army to haul everything on board.

Just as you are wondering if there is an easier way to pack for your cruise, here are some great ideas on packing for your sunny cruising adventure:

Pack your important documents first. These could include your passport, visas, vaccination certificates, airline tickets, cruise tickets, insurance cards, drivers license and proof of car insurance, ATM card, credit cards, travelers checks, cash, and phone cards.

Next pack your electronics, such as your cell phone and charger, watch and extra battery, camera with extra batteries and extra film, camcorder with charger, and binoculars.

Thereafter you may wish to pack paper items, such as maps, brochures, books and magazines to enjoy during your trip, and little business cards with your e-mail address on them to give out to cruise friends, if you so desire.

Now is the time to pack your important toiletries, such as medications, specialized shampoo or conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, sunscreen, and after sun lotion. Dont forget your contact lenses and cleaners, or your reading- and sunglasses. Also pack a small first aid kit and include some Dramamine to prevent motion sickness for those choppy days on deck. Do not forget a sewing kit to repair small tears and holes in your clothes!

Remember to remain cool, and so pack a hat, sun visor, or maybe both.

Next on the list are the clothes. Do not over pack, but instead plan ahead for the activities you will most likely encounter. If swimming is on your agenda, be sure to pack your swimming suit. Read up about the locations you will visit and look up photos on the Internet or in travel brochures. What are the people wearing? This will provide you will a valuable clue as to the weather and other conditions.

Consider also if there are occasions for formal dress, such as a dance on the ship. Are there more than one formal occasion? Your travel agent will help you understand your brochures, and will help you to tailor your expectations accordingly.

Women should pack one formal outfit complete with accessories, i.e. strapless bra and stockings, costume jewelry, and purse. Consider packing outfits in basic colors that mix and match and that go with a large number of accessories, such as scarves, belts, and purses. This will permit you to cut down on the amounts of clothes you will need to take with you. Be sure to pack sturdy walking shoes, as well as comfortable sandals, and a pair of formal shoes. If you are planning to go to the beach, be sure to bring beach shoes to prevent your feet from getting hurt on hard shells. You also need to make sure to pack some cold weather items, such as a jacket, sweater, and also a raincoat.

Men should pack a tuxedo complete with all accessories, sturdy shoes, slacks, dress shirts, golf shirts, and t-shirts, swimwear, cold weather gear, and some shorts.

As you can see, if you plan well for your cruise, you will not have to find yourself in a position of packing everything but the kitchen sink only to find out later that you do not need half the things you packed in the first place. Talk to your travel agent if you are not sure what the weather will be during your cruise experienced so that you may plan adequately for all eventualities.

Tips on Childproofing your Hotel Room when Traveling

Traveling with children can be messy business, especially if you have younger children. Diapers and dirty clothes, toys and tantrumsall of these things can compound the stress of being on the road. If you are traveling with small children, there is one thing that most parents tend to overlook while they are away from home: the safety of their hotel rooms. While most hotel rooms are overwhelmingly safe, there are some hidden dangers that can turn your travels from fun to tragic in an instant.

1. Inspect the hotel room before checking in. If you are sharing a room with young children, it’s always a good idea to ask to see a room before paying for it. This is especially true if you are traveling overseas, and the hotel appears to be particularly modest. Remember, not all countries, cities, or towns have a stringent safety code. Avoid rooms that seem unkempt. Check for frayed or loose wires on lamps. Make sure the floor or carpet is clean and free of debris. Check for safe exit in case of fire. Use your common sense. If the room looks like it might be unsafe, it probably is.

2. Ask for room childproofing, if available. Some family-oriented hotels offer travelers the option of room childproofing. You can request that your room (s) be childproofed before your arrival. The staff will use doorknob and outlet covers, and other childproofing supplies to ensure your room’s safety.

3. Outlets and plugs. In the United States, most major hotel chains have the outlets situated out of reach from younger children. In most cases, outlets are safely hidden behind desks, bureaus, and nightstands. But if you are traveling abroad, this may always be the case, especially if you are staying at a budget hotel. To make sure your child is safe, consider purchasing outlet covers. These simple plastic devices cover the outlets so that they are safely out of reach from curious little fingers.

4. Don’t hesitate to use the safety deposit box. If you have any items that you consider dangerous, or which might come in contact with your children, consider stowing it away safely in the hotel’s safety deposit box. Using the safety deposit box to stow away small valuable items is a good idea, even if you are not traveling with children.

5. Inspect the bathroom for potential hazards. Bathrooms can seem like unsuspecting places, but they can prove dangerous for small children. Make sure the floor is clean and dry at all times. The shower stall or bathtub should be lined with protective slip-proof mats to keep guests from slipping and falling. Ceramic tubs or sinks should be smooth and crack-free.

6. Make sure the door locks properly. The door should shut smoothly and lock completely. If it doesn’t, report the problem to staff and don’t be afraid to ask for another room.

7. Ask for a crib. If you are traveling with an infant, ask for a crib. If you are traveling with a young child who is restless in their sleep, ask for a small roll-in cot. Children who are restless during their sleep may roll off the bed in the course of the night. Most adult-sized beds are quite tall. Falling from a bed may result in serious injury.

8. If you have a room with a balcony, ask for netting. Some hotels offer netting that can be used to restrict your child’s access to your room’s balcony area. If netting is not available, you may have to resort to keeping the door locked, or asking for a different room.

9. Scope out the pool. The pool area is ripe with hazards. Make sure the pool is kept clean. Ideally, the hotel should provide safety equipment, and there should be a lifeguard on duty. If the area appears unclean, unsafe or ill equipped to handle an emergency, steer clear of the waters altogether.

10. If your hotel doesn’t offer any childproofing options and you don’t have access to your own childproofing devices, improvise. Use masking tape to cover up any electrical outlets that may be accessible to your small child. Safely tape down any electrical cords to the floor. Secure the handles on drawers or the mini bar so that your child cannot access them.

Making Waves- Top Destinations Where You Can Swim with the Dolphins

Many people dream of swimming with dolphins in a beautiful blue ocean. Bottlenose dolphins are extremely social and gentle to humans. Imagine gliding along with or side-by-side with these gentle creatures. Stop dreaming and start planning. There are many vacation packages that are available to those that want to have the experience of a lifetime.

Planning a dolphin vacation may seem intimidating at first, but you can do it if you know what you are looking for. The first thing you will need to consider is the location. Where do you want to go? How far do you want to travel? If you are on a limited budget, you do not have to travel to far-away places for one of these vacations. You can probably find places near your home where you can swim with dolphins. If you live near a Sea World, or other refuge for sea animals, you can schedule a day to swim. However, if you are thinking of a vacation on a grander scale, you can do this, too. Places such as Mexico, the Bahamas and the Caribbean all offer swim with the dolphin packages. In addition, you can choose to have an encounter with these creatures in a controlled environment or try for a chance encounter in the ocean.

If you want to swim in the ocean to meet a dolphin, you need to look into companies very carefully. Before you decide on a vacation, you should consider looking into a company that is reputable. You do not want to spend thousands of dollars only to come home with no dolphins. It is important to find a tour guide that is knowledgeable about the animals and the location and one that is respectful of nature. Wild swim tours will have very specific rules about the tours. They might include not feeding or touching the animals. Avoid companies that try to chase or circle the wild dolphins, as this is not safe for the animal. Reputable companies will never try to force the dolphins to interact and will leave the decision up to the animal.

Also, find out how many people will be in your group. It is important to keep the tour group relatively small, usually with no more than about ten. Many reputable companies will also have large boats where you can live on board for your vacation. This means that you will have a better chance and meeting the dolphins. Dolphins are naturally curious, so if you want to swim in the wild and have a good tour guide, the chances are very good that you will have an experience of a lifetime.

Here are some popular places to meet dolphins:

Florida: You have many choices to swim with dolphins in Florida. There are several companies, such as Discovery Cove in Orlando, which allows visitors to interact with dolphins in the wild. Mexico: Another popular location for dolphin swims is in Mexico. One company, Dolphin World, books vacations in Cozumel, Cancun, and Mayan Riviera. These locations are perfect because they also offer travelers a chance to explore local culture and take part in sightseeing that is nearby. They offer mini-vacations, where you get a one-day or half-day swim and diving programs in a controlled environment. There are also several tour companies that take you out on the water for a wild swim. There are usually age requirements, so make sure you check into this before booking a trip.

Bahamas: Many people come to the Bahamas for wild swim with the dolphin trips. There are many tour companies there that will take you on extended trips out in the ocean so that you can come face-to-face with these gentle creatures. Seven-day tours are most popular. The water in the Bahamas is crystal clear, making it a great place for diving and snorkeling. Package prices vary, and can cost up to $2000 per person.

If you want to swim with the dolphins, there are many places around the world that can offer you the vacation of a lifetime. Choose your tour guide company carefully so that you know that you are not endangering these animals. A vacation such as this will give you memories that will last a lifetime.

Gang Up On Green Gills Banishing Motion Sickness For Good

One of the primary setbacks for many travelers of the world is motion sickness. While you may feel completely alone as you tackle this problem throughout your many journeys, try to remember that thousands of people suffer from this chronic condition each year. Motion sickness is a bit more complicated that you may have ever imagined. While you may feel nausea with the onset of this condition, other people experience a range of symptoms including heart palpitations, extreme sweating, even fainting.

Motion sickness is caused when the fluid in your ears, also called endolymph, sends confusing signals to your brain. You are suddenly no longer able to distinguish between the movement you think you feel and the movement that is actually occurring. Most people who experience motion sickness vomit within the first half hour of symptoms. This, however, does little to relieve the pain associated with the condition. The cause of motion sickness, as well as the reasons some people suffer from the condition while others are left untouched, is a bit of a mystery.

Clinical studies, though, have determined a number of different things about this condition. First, scientists have shown that movements that are both abrupt and sudden in nature tend to cause the onset of motion sickness for those afflicted with the condition. Smooth, slow movements don’t seem to have the same level of fluid displacement, thereby leaving those with the condition a bit calmer. Winding roads, hills, and rough waters tend to be a primary factor in motion sickness. Reading or examining a map while driving can also cause the condition in many. The real key to handling your motion sickness with ease is beating the condition before it causes a wrinkle in your travels. While these tips may not work for everyone who suffers from this condition, trying a few until you find the best one for you is the only way you may be able to leave your motion sickness behind you on your next journey.

One of the best ways to banish motion sickness from your travels is to get to a location where the fluid in your ears can stabilize. While this may not always be possible, depending upon your location, finding an area that has more stability might help to lessen your symptoms. If you happen to be in the air during your next bout of motion sickness, try moving to the middle of the plane. In a car, the front seat is one of the best locations for you. Be sure to keep your eyes toward the horizon, and avoiding looking down at material. Get some fresh air through the nearest window. If necessary, stop the car to give the fluid in your ears a small break from movement.

If you are on a ship, the advice is usually the same as that on a plane. The center tends to offer sufferers more stability than any other area of the ship. Once you’ve found the center of your vessel, it might help to go to the top deck. Looking at the water as it moves by you, can help to signal your body to feel what you see, thereby helping you relax. If that doesn’t work, you might try closing your eyes and working with a relaxation technique that helps you. Telling your mind to calm down is often an effective combatant against the symptoms you are fighting. If you are a regular motion sickness sufferer, you might work with some relaxation techniques on a typical schedule. Next time you need them, they will already be at your disposal.

Another important step to getting rid of the motion sickness you may suffer is to watch your diet carefully. Some foods may bring on your symptoms much quicker than others. Eating lighter foods and avoiding alcohol may be a real help to lessening your suffering. You might also find that eating foods that contain ginger will help to act as a deterrent to your symptoms. You can find it in pill form, chewable snacks, or candy.

There are also many preventative devices on the market that have shown promising results in many who suffer from this annoying condition. There are wristbands you can purchase that either provides you with the Eastern healing technique of acupressure or some measure of electrical stimulation. Even if no hard scientific proof exists with regard to these devices, you may experience the placebo effect just by wearing it, which will only serve to meet your needs.

If you simply cannot deal with the motion sickness anymore, consider taking medication to help fight your symptoms. There are a number of over-the-counter remedies that can help to treat symptoms. Doctors may also have the medication you need to combat your condition. As with any medications, check for interaction between new medications and existing ones. Always ask your doctor before you take any type of medication.

Yet, the savvy traveler will need to realize that there are also some pitfalls to be avoided in order to minimize any potential flies in the ointment. One such pitfall may very well be the accommodations. Granted, the cabins will be clean and luxurious, yet there are some tips on choosing the right cabin for your cruise and avoiding a latter case of cabin fever and buyers remorse. Here are some tried and true tips that will help any traveler, novice or experienced, to quickly and easily get the right cabin for you:

First and foremost, when you book your cruise you will be given the choice of receiving an inside or an outside cabin. No, outside does not mean that you have to camp out in the lifeboat. Instead, it simply refers to the choice of having a window in your cabin or not. If you choose to be outside and wish to have the window, you will have a spectacular view of the ocean, islands, or any other sights as your ship approaches them. The downside of an outside cabin is the fact that you will have to pay for this view. The inside cabin are a lot less expensive and just as luxurious, yet devoid of the natural light streaming through the window. Would you feel slightly claustrophobic in a room without a window? Would you miss the natural light? If this is an important factor for you, it is imperative that you discuss these options with your travel agent and decide on the best cabin choice for you.

If you do decide that the natural light is the way to go, it is time for some further research. Did you know that some outside cabins may be had at sensational bargains, only to come and find out upon arrival that your porthole is partially or completely obstructed by a lifeboat? Similarly, if you wish to have a view of the ocean, yet your window faces a deck where you will see more traffic than ocean, will this bother you? It is the wise traveler indeed who will request to take a look at the ships floor plan to ascertain whether there is an obstruction in front of a window or not. A seasoned travel agent can be a wonderful source of information here, too!

Once you have figured out if your cabin will have a view or not, you will need to pay attention to the actual location of your cabin. Do you wish to be as far away from the tourists as possible? If so, you may be tempted to book on the lower decks; however, you will need to be aware that the lower decks are closer to the ships functionality rooms and crew quarters, so while you may not have a lot of noise from fellow travelers, you will have the commotion of shift changes, engine rooms and bow thrusters. Quite often the mechanical noises are also accompanied by vibration, which may be relatively pronounced in the early morning hours. Are you willing to endure such during your journey?

If you choose to book on one of the upper decks, you are still not home free! Consider the actual location of your cabin: is it located underneath the exercise room? Is it located above the dance club? If so, you will have frequent and consistent disturbances. Again, a floor plan will come in rather handy prior to deciding upon a location for your cabin!

As you can see, with a little bit of foresight, your trip of a lifetime will be enjoyable and truly well worth the expense!

Maybe you want your kids to get out more and see more of the world. Or maybe you are just curious about finding something else out about the world and cultures and peoples in it. For your next vacation, consider something more educational to expand your horizons.

A great way to explore the world and learn about new cultures is through language. A great place to consider is Canadas POINT3 language school in Montreal. Classes start every Monday, and offer total immersion into French. Classes are held from 2 to 6 pm Monday through Friday, with an outing every week. After the outing, in class discussions are used to help students explore what they are learning in their new language. Students are encouraged to talk to local people as well to improve their conversational abilities. There is an aspect of adventure too some of the outdoor tours include skiing, wildlife, and nature tours. You will come home with a much better understanding of the French language and culture.

If art is more your taste, consider spending some time studying art in Mexico. The Instituto Allende, located in San Miguel de Allende, offers programs for credit and for non-credit for all ages. Students can stay and study to earn a bachelor or master of fine arts. Or, if it is just a vacation that you prefer, month-long courses are offered in painting, jewelry making, photography, sculpture, and much more. The classes are only 9 hours a week and cost about $300 for the month. During your off time, you can spend time immersing yourself in the language and culture of Mexico. Located in the mountains of Mexico, this nearly 450-year-old city offers stunning vacation homes, hot springs, beautiful mountain views, and an air of the colonial opulence that once funded it.

If you are a more active person, kickboxing might be the ticket for you. The Fairtex Muay Thai Fitness Camp in Thailand offers classes for both the spiritual and physical training for those interested in kickboxing. You can choose a package with shared rooms or private rooms depending on your budget. All skill levels are welcome. The package includes 6 nights of accommodations, 6 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 5 dinners with unlimited French wine, all excursions, and 5 cooking classes, each of which lasts 3 to 5 hours. To plan for the classes, you will visit local spots to get ingredients. Depending on the season, this might include a visit to a goat farm for cheese, a 250-year-old factory for olive oil, a trout farm for fresh fish, or a tour of area wine producers for wine. During down time swim in the pool or enjoy the mountains on foot, bike, or horseback.

For Christians, a popular learning destination is Greece. The Biblical Archeology Society gives an amazing tour exploring the ancient cities, tombs, and monuments that make Greece so interesting. You can follow in the footsteps of Alexander the great and religious explorers searching for the roots of Christianity. A religions and classics professor who will discuss and explore religious diversity and how it affected this society leads the class. Cost of the tour includes 12 overnight stays in hotels with all the modern comforts, daily breakfast, 11 dinners, and once lunch in restaurants with typical Greek food, a winery visit with wine tasting, and English-speaking guide, transportation for all visits, and admission fees to all the sites on the trip.

No matter where you decide to go in the world, choosing an educational vacation will expand your mind and worldview. Choose to take a vacation for your mind the next time!

The Great Barrier Reef The Ultimate Scuba Traveling Adventure

For the scuba novice and expert alike, the Great Barrier Reef represents one of the most exciting scuba traveling adventures in the world. What’s so great about this barrier reef, you ask? The barrier reef immense, spanning more than 1400 miles along Australia’s east coast. The Great Barrier Reef, in fact, is the world’s most extensive and largest reef system, and some would argue, the most beautiful reef in the world. If you have dreamed of visiting this wondrous place of natural beauty, here are the basics about the reef and tips for the first-time visitor.

The Location of the Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is located near Queensland, Australia. The reef is approximately 185 miles from the mainland at the southern end, and about 12 miles from the shore on the northern end. The reef is also widest at the northern end, sometimes spanning 50 miles in width. What sort of marine life can visitors spot on the reef? The sheer number of diversity can be breathtaking. You will be able to see about 4000 species of mollusks, more than 1000 species of fish, about 380 species of coral, 500 species of seaweed, six of the world’s species of sea turtles.

How to Get to the Barrier Reef

The best place to depart from in the United States is the West Coast, where flights depart daily for Australia. Once you have reached Australia, you will likely have to make a short domestic connection to get to one of the gateways to the reef. The most popular local gateways to the reef include Cairns and Townsville (tropical cities that are located at the northern end of the reef), and Gladstone and Bundaberg at the southern end of the reef.

The Ultimate Scuba Diving Adventure

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the best locations to scuba dive in the world. Why? The waters around the reef are remarkably clear and warm. The depths vary, but are generally moderate enough for novices to take the plunge. The diving is shallow, with the maximum depths reaching about 60 feet. For more experienced scuba divers, the reefs located around the Coral Sea provide much greater depthdropping to around 300 feet.

One of the best ways to experience the reef as a scuba diver is aboard one of the popular ‘live aboard’ boats that specialize in taking visitors on extended scuba diving expeditions. Many of these boats provide luxury amenities and small vessels to take divers into the heart of the reef. If you prefer to make a day trip, you can also take a day boat. Day boats take scuba divers onto 4-5 hour trips into the reef. Many local resorts arrange day boats for their guests.

Finding a ‘Dive Island’ Resort

Many resorts around the reef specialize in catering to visitors interested in scuba diving around the reef. Most of these resorts are located on the small islands that surround the reef. Most of these resorts offer immediate and accessible access to the reef, and are perfect for those seeking a scuba diving adventure. The most popular of these resorts are located on Lizard, Green, Lady Elliot, and Heron islands. The famous “Cod Hole”, a particularly popular diving site, is located off Lizard Island.

Best Time to Visit the Reef

Because of its stable waters, almost any time of the year is suitable for diving. However, the best time of the year is during the months of August until January. The popular season is during the Australian summer, which consists of the months of December to March. Because the area is considered tropical, the temperature remains pleasantly steady throughout most of the year, usually resting in the 70s to mid-80s. Obviously, there is no clearly ‘bad’ time to visit the Great Barrier Reef and its surround cities.

Others are simply intrigued by the mystery surrounding this giant, or giants, and want to learn more. Whatever you believe, you can be certain that a vacation of Nessie searching will be one of the most memorable experiences of your life.

The Loch Ness is a very large freshwater lake (called a loch in Scotland) in the Scottish Highlands. This lake extends 23 miles southwest of Inverness, Scotland. There are many attractions to the surrounding areas and places to stay, such as the Urquhart Castle. Most of these visitors are curious about Nessie and hope to catch a glimpse of a hump, tail or head surfacing above the deep waters.

It is true that there are many mysteries surrounding Nessie and her home. Over the years, many people have claimed to see Nessie swimming through the water. Some believe that she might actually be a group of creatures. The monster is most commonly described as sleek, dark in color, usually with two humps, a long tail and very similar in appearance to a whale. Along with Bigfoot and the Yeti, Nessie is one of the most mysterious creatures on Earth. There is even some evidence that there many be a large network of underwater caves, caverns and corridors where these quiet creatures reside when they dont want to be seen by humans.

Is there real evidence to support the existence of Nessie? Some say yes. Underwater photos and the use of high-tech sono equipment have all been used in Loch Ness. Many photographs were taken from under the water and although images were hard to see because of the murky waters, a creature did appear. Close up photos of a creatures diamond shaped fins were recorded. What the creature is still remains a mystery. There are an equal number of people that say no. They believe that Nessie is simply a hoax and that the lake is certainly not large enough to support such large creatures.

If you are interested in Nessie, why not book a vacation and find out for yourself? If you are in Scotland or visiting England, you can plan to spend a day or two visiting Loch Ness and the surrounding areas. In fact, there are many tour companies that offer package deals to Loch Ness. There are also many cottages and cabins that are available for rental right on the famed lake.

Before setting out on your own hunt for the Loch Ness monster, you can find many locals that are willing to give you information and tours of the area. Do some research before you go so you can know where to go and where to look once you arrive. Make sure you bring along your camera and video camera. You never know when Nessie might decide to make an appearance. If you want to explore the area on your own, you will be able to find many maps and information about the Scottish lake before you arrive. There are many books that are dedicated to the sole purpose of finding evidence of the Loch Ness monster.

A good guide will share with you the history of the lake and the mystery surrounding Nessie. Bring a pair of binoculars and get ready to look out. When you are in the area, make sure you visit the Loch Ness Monster Museum. This museum is dedicated to providing you with photographic evidence and shows a short film that explores the myth of the monster and the neighboring Urquhart Castle.

There are one and two-day tours of Loch Ness and many travelers say that both are very informative and worth the trip. Most Loch Ness cruises take travelers around the outside perimeters of the lake. You might even come away feeling that you have just seen Nessie making an appearance. If you have two days to spend, you should try and book one of these tours. Many travel agencies can help you fit a tour into your schedule while you are on your vacation to Scotland.

Happy Trails How to Find the Best Dude Ranch Destination for your Family

More than ever before, families are becoming more adventurous in their travels. A family vacation used to mean a short stay at a Disney resort. While the theme park attractions of California and Florida are still a major draw, more families are now opting for adventure themed vacations. White water rafting, camping, and boating are becoming increasingly popular. One adventure themed vacation that stands out is experiencing a taste of the west at a dude ranch.

Why choose a dude ranch vacation? Here are four reasons why you and your family should consider hitching up the wagon and heading to the ranch for your next a vacation destination.

1. A dude ranch vacation provides an experience unmatched by conventional vacations. In other words, visiting a dude ranch is just plain fun. Roller coasters and cotton candy are certainly fun too, but there is nothing like riding a horse on an open plain, smelling the sagebrush on the wind. A dude ranch vacation is an experience completely unrivalled by your everyday life, especially if you are a city slicker. You and your family will forever remember your time spent at the dude ranch.

2. A dude ranch vacation puts you in touch with history. Experience what the pioneers experienced. Imagine the lives of the early cowboys. What better way of learning history than to live it? Shuffling through a museum is certainly one way to learn about history. Actually living it is quite another thing. Your children will never forget the time they spent living the old west.

3. Learn to rope and ride! If you have always dreamed of riding and roping like a pro, a dude ranch vacation may be right up your alley. Most dude ranches offer professional riding and roping lessons. A dude ranch vacation will give you the perfect opportunity to learn and polish new skills. By the time your vacation at the dude ranch is over, you’ll be riding and roping like a pro.

4. A dude ranch vacation does not have to cost more than a more conventional getaway. Maybe you think you cant afford an extended stay at a dude ranch. Even the budget conscious traveler can find a dude ranch that fits his or her needs. Dude ranch stays can range from all-inclusive affairs that can get quite pricey, to less expensive stays that are on par (or less) than an ordinary vacation.

If a dude ranch vacation sounds good to you, you’ll be happy to know there are dozens of very well regarded dude ranch destinations that are family-friendly. Before you pack up your jeans and boots, do your fair share of Internet research. Here are a few points to consider when looking for the best dude ranch destination for your family.

1. Find out the kid-friendly factor. Most dude ranches are very family and kid-friendly. Some dude ranches even have complete kid programs where children have their own instructors, wranglers, and activities. Some dude ranches have kid schedules that include overnight camping trips, special lunches, swimming trips, and other activities. It’s possible for a family to spend their vacation on a dude ranch without seeing each other for most of the day! Ask about children’s activities and programs before booking a stay.

2. Sort out what activities you’re interested in. Once you start to research different dude ranches, you’ll find that some are on par with resorts, complete with swimming, tennis, spa, and other amenities. Other dude ranches focus on riding, roping, and cattle wrangling. Figure out what appeals to you and your family, and choose accordingly.

3. Check on rider age restrictions. If you have children less than six years of age, make sure the dude ranch provides activities to keep younger children entertained. Children under six years of age are generally not allowed to ride. For many families, this is a major consideration when choosing a dude ranch.

4. Research the location your dude ranch destination. Some dude ranches are situated very near bustling towns or cities, while others are in the middle of nowhere. If you are not familiar with a region, call the dude ranch to find out about its location. Are there restaurants nearby, or are dining options limited to the dude ranch? If you plan on flying, where is the nearest airport? How far a drive is the dude ranch from major towns and cities? Especially if you are traveling a long-distance with kids in tow, you will want to make these plans well ahead of time.

Terrific Tips to Keeping Kids Tame on the Plane

If you intend to vacation with your kids this year, you should plan to make memories that will last a lifetime. Reaching that vacation destination, though, may also make a few memories for both you and those around you, especially if you intend to travel by plane. Between your three year old incessantly kicking the seat in front of him, your seven year old whining about the tray table, and your infant screaming, all of the other passengers may remember your vacation as well. There are, though, a few great ways to keep your kids from creating a complete disaster on the plane.

One of the first things you can do to keep your kids occupied while you are en route to your destination is to build a boredom buster kit. Your boredom-buster kit can include any number of things to help keep your kids interested in the vacation itself. Try adding favorite action figures or dolls to the kit. This will give your child a taste of home. If you have younger children, don’t forget to have plastic or stuffed animals that they play with on a regular basis. Age appropriate books for your child to look at or for the two of you to read together are always a nice addition to the boredom-buster kit. Some drawing supplies might also be important. Some companies make markers that only draw on a specific kind of paper, which may help keep your child’s travel clothes clean. It may also keep your child from drawing on the airline tray table.

If you have older children, handheld video games might be a good investment. Many companies now make various learning video games to keep them away from the violence most video games hold sacred. Most public libraries offer books or old radio shows on tape or compact disc. Try popping those in a CD player with multiple headphone jacks for everyone to listen. You could also consider spending the money to purchase a portable DVD player. Many of these have price tags at fewer than two hundred dollars, and they may buy you hours of peace in the cramped quarters of an airline seat. They may also buy you a quiet naptime once you reach your destination. You could also consider getting portable CD players and headphones for each child. These start at less than fifteen dollars, and you won’t have any fights about who is using the only CD player you own.

If you have a small baby, there are several things you need to do. First, you can try giving your infant a bottle or nursing your baby during take off and landing procedures. You can pop your ears, but your small baby has no way to relieve the pressure they feel building. As a result, they may spend much of the flight crying. Offering them a bottle, or a sippy cup if they are a bit older, can help to relieve the pressure they may be feeling in their ears. Also, be sure to bring more diapers in your carry on luggage than you think you need. It can be quite difficult to deal with a baby in a soiled diaper if you have run out. Be sure to bring a few changes of clothes as well as one for you in case you have a really bad diaper incident or in case your child vomits on the plane. Be sure to bring along some ready made formula as well, because finding the right ingredients to make your baby’s bottle can be a bit rough in a crowded airline. Be sure to bring along a few toys to help amuse your baby. Don’t forget that you will spend every second taking care of the baby on the plane.

Even if you don’t have babies, there are still a number of things you should pack, besides your boredom buster kit, to make the plane ride tolerable. Be sure to bring along some small containers of snacks. It may be some time before snacks or meals are served on the airline, and it is certainly possible for you child to get cranky or hungry before that ever happens. Taking some juice boxes or a bit of bottled water might also be an excellent idea for older children. A package of baby wipes might help too, as you can never really tell who might make a mess on the plane.

Keeping your children, and everyone else around you, happy on your next family vacation is just a matter of packing the right items.

All-Inclusive Travel Takes the Guess Work Out of Tipping

Are you considering purchasing one of many popular ‘all-inclusive’ travel packages? These types of everything-in-one-package vacations are growing in popularity, because they take the guesswork out of travel. Let’s face it: nobody will ever claim that budgeting for a vacation is fun. One of the greatest assets of an all-inclusive vacation package is that there is almost no day-to-day budgeting involved. You simply pay the price of your package, and relax. But despite these obvious assets, the all-inclusive travel package can also have its downsides. Here are the five best reasons to purchase an all-inclusive travel package, and three things you may want to consider before committing to this type of vacation

Why should you consider an all-inclusive travel package?

1. No guesswork, footwork, or extensive planning required. Most people travel on a budget, meaning that all travel expenses (transportation, food, attractions, souvenirs, etc.) must be constantly calculated so that you won’t go too far over budget. Perhaps the greatest attraction of an all-inclusive travel package is that you can throw the calculator out the window. Once you’ve paid for your trip, you no longer have to worry about paying for food, (most) transportation, or entertainment. Most people find this very attractive, because it reduces the stress out of planning and paying for your vacation.

2. Tipping woes are not an issue. Are you the type of traveler that frets over tipping? Does the mere idea of tipping cause you to break into a sweat? The all-inclusive package takes the tipping stress out of your vacation. For the most part, tipping is not necessary at most all-inclusive resorts. In fact, tipping is not allowed at many resorts.

3. Food and drinks are included. Are you the type of traveler who enjoys splurging a bit? Especially if enjoy feasting and drinking, the all-inclusive vacation package may be right up your alley. All drinks are included in these packages, which can save you a lot of money in the long run.

4. Peace of mind for the security-minded. Many travelers are attracted to the security of staying at an all-inclusive resort. If you are a cautious traveler, an all-inclusive vacation package is perfect for you. Most resorts are highly secure, allowing access only to guests. You are able to eat, drink, and enjoy nightly entertainment without the risks of heading out to unknown neighborhoods at night.

5. A vacation tailored to your needs and interests. Many travelers are attracted to all-inclusive vacation resorts because they cater to their guest’s interests and needs. Families can find special resorts geared to the specific needs and interests of families. There are also resorts that cater specifically to older guests, gays, singles, and other groups.

Obviously, all-inclusive vacations are attractive for several reasons. But what are some of the reasons you might not want to purchase one of these popular packages?

1. Not enough stimulation for the adventurous traveler. Are you the type of traveler who sleeps in airports, stays in hostels, and likes to feast on authentic local fare? If you are a bit on the adventurous side, you may find popular all-inclusive packages lacking in stimulation.

2. All-inclusive vacations packages can be costly. Although some packages are budget-friendly, others can be quite costly. In order to determine if an all-inclusive package is right for you, you must do a cost-benefit analysis. Are you the type who likes to eat all day, or do you survive on snacks or small salads? Are you a drinker? If you are not a big eater and drinker, an all-inclusive vacation package may not prove a bargain for you.

3. Not enough diversity in entertainment, dining, or attractions. If you are considering an all-inclusive vacation, be wary about the resort you choose. You don’t want to choose a resort that offers a limited amount of dining, entertainment, or amenities. After all, if you are paying extra to have everything included, you want to make sure there are a range of activities and dining options to keep everyone in your group satisfied.

Traveling RV Style

RVs, or Recreational Vehicles to newbie’s, are growing exponentially in popularity. It used to be that RVs were the preferred means of travel for retired senior citizens, who traveled the open road exploring every nook and cranny of the country. This stereotype is no longer true. RVs are now popular with families and couples, who enjoy the freedom and flexibility of sitting behind these behemoth vehicles and cruising the open road.

The Growing Popularity of RVs in the United States

The sales of RVs reached a 25-year high in 2003, surpassing expectations for sales. Why have RVs becoming so darned popular? According to travel experts, RVs are becoming increasingly popular with Americans for several reasons. Those who don’t enjoy the hassle and stress of flying are particularly attracted to RVs. Also, despite high gas prices, traveling in an RV still represent a bargain vacation. RV’s can operate as a traveling lodge on wheels. Instead of paying the high costs of hotel accommodations, RV’s can save you money by allowing you to sleep in your RV rather than stay at a hotel. Also, because many RVs come with full-service kitchenettes, RV’s can save you money on food as well. Simply make a stop at the grocery or convenience store and make your own lunch.

The true appeal behind the RV lies in the open freedom and flexibility that these vehicles can afford you and your family. Traveling in a RV means you don’t have to worry about your schedule, and no worries about rushing to the airport to catch your flight, or lugging around luggage. You don’t have to worry about standing in line at popular attractions, or dealing with lost hotel reservations. RV brings together the best of both worlds: the comfort of home coupled with the freedom of the open road.

Seven Things to Do Before You Buy a RV

Are you convinced about the pros of traveling RV-style? Before you run out and purchase a RV, here are a few tips to getting more acquainted to these road warrior vehicles.

1. Rent before you buy. Before you make the investment, take the time to rent an RV to make sure this mode of travel is the right type for you and your family. Take a short weekend trip to get to know the feel of being behind the wheel of an RV. Try out the kitchen, the bathroom, and the sleeping quarters. If you can afford it, make several short trips in different RV makes and models to get a feel for the different kinds of RVs that are available.

2. Determine what kind of features you need and want. How big does the RV have to be to accommodate your family comfortably? What sort of amenities would you like? Make a list of the things you absolutely must have, and shop accordingly.

3. Visit your local RV dealer to get an idea of prices and features. Visit a RV dealership at least once before you make a purchase. Get to know the different makes and models, and take out your top choices on test drives.

4. Visit your local library. There are many RV buyers’ guides that are must reading for anyone on the RV market.

5. Get to know RV parks and campgrounds. Before purchasing or even renting a RV, become acquainted with the RV parks and campgrounds that dot the United States. RV parks and campgrounds can vary wildly regarding amenities, size, and cost. Look through a directory of RV campgrounds (search your local library or bookstore) and get to know the different places you will be staying if you buy a RV.

6. Before you buy, look for the seal. The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) certifies all RVs that meet its standards of safety. The RVIA certifies all vehicles that meet certain national safety specifications with an oval-shaped RVIA seal. Make sure the RV you purchase is RVIA approved.

7. If you are new to the world of RVs, visit a RV show. A RV show is the perfect way to become acquainted with a vast array of RVs at one time. You can speak with experts, and maybe even take one out for a short test drive.

Packed Like Sardines Tips on Traveling the Friendly Skies During the Holidays

You want to visit your family for the holidays. Unfortunately, so does half of the population of your town judging by the airport. However, with a little preparation, you can cut down on some of the headaches of holiday travel and enjoy your vacation.

First thing to do is plan your flight. With this, the earlier you plan and purchase your tickets, the better. You will be more likely to get the best deals on the tickets, as well as any other accommodations you might need at the other end such as hotels or rental cars. During peak flying times flights will book up quickly, as well as accommodations at your vacation site. If possible, look for a flight that leaves midday or in the evening and during the week. Those times of day tend to be less crowded at the airport than weekends, early morning, and afternoons. It is also helpful to print up a list of other flights leaving the airport that same day, in case you are delayed and miss a connection.

Next thing to do is to get ready for the airport. When packing your bags, keep in mind that you will be going through airport security. Get a list of prohibited items from your airline and make sure that you do not have any of those on you. Pack any medications and valuables in your carry-on. Do not lock your bags unless you have one of the newer locks that can only be opened by the TSA. Make sure that all bags have identification tags on the inside and outside. Do not forget to label your carry-on bags as well, in case you forget them somewhere. Remove batteries from travel alarm clocks that tick, and do not wrap any gifts. Do not forget to put unexposed film into your carry-on instead of your checked bags so that it does not get exposed during the screening process.

Once your bag is packed, you will want to get yourself ready for the trip. Wear comfortable, layered clothing. If possible, avoid thick bulky coats and thick-soled shoes. Avoid as many metal-containing accessories as possible. This might be a buckle on belts or shoes, or excess jewelry. Also consider your carry-on to make sure that you have everything you need. Most important is your boarding pass. Do not forget to have your photo ID easily available. Bring hand sanitizer and vitamin C tablets to help prevent getting sick from all the germs. Consider getting earplugs to help block some of the noise around you, particularly if you plan to try to sleep on the plane. Staying hydrated is important, so consider bringing a bottle of water to drink in the airport to avoid purchasing an over-priced one. Hand lotion or other moisturizes will be helpful for your skin as well. Small paperback books or crossword puzzles will give you something to do while you wait and are lightweight and easy to carry.

Now it is time to leave for the airport. You will want to plan for delays. Allow yourself plenty of time to get to the airport, even if there is traffic or road construction on your way. Depending on where you live, inclement weather might also be another concern. You will want to be at the airport at an hour before your plane departs if flying nationally and two hours if flying internationally to allow yourself plenty of time to check in and get through security. Some airports may recommend additional time if they are particularly busy during the holidays. Better to be waiting in the airport for extra time than to miss your flight. If you are having a family member or friend drop you off, consider telling them to drop you off at the arrival gate if you are departing and vice versa. While it might mean a little more walking for you in the airport, it will mean less traffic arriving and leaving for your friend.

Check in as soon as you get to the airport. Make sure that everyone in your group has the boarding passes for the flight as well as the connecting ones if possible. Once you have gone through security, stay close to your departure gate. Do not be inclined to wander or you might miss your boarding call.

Once all this is done, you will be on a plane and on your way to your vacation. This is the time to relax and have fun!

Resolved Question: Fixing my credit. I have a question about repairing credit.?
My husband and I fell into some bad times and for the past 8 months we have not been able to pay on our debt. We had to prioritize our bills and unfortunately, the only bills we have been able to afford have been the mortgage, car payments and insurance. And even those are all one month behind. Our credit has taken a huge hit. From the low 700’s to the low 400’s. We have lapsed on all credit card bills, loans and payments of any kind. NOW….things have changed. My husband has been promoted with a HUGE pay increase. Enough to catch up all bills and start paying off debts. I have two questions: First, is it better to repair credit by paying off the collection companies with a discount or pay the lender/credit card directly? Second, how long would it take to restore our credit if we catch all of our bills up and pay off debts we owe?
Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Resolved Question: where can i get appoved for a mortgage with bad credit?
i have a very low credit score , but need to buy a home can someon please give me advise?

From Jonah to Ahab, whales have long fascinated human beings for their terrible grace and beauty. Ecotourism has sprung up as a fascinating and ever-growing niche in the travel industry that serves travelers who long to reconnect with the ecological wonders of nature. Whale watching has long been one of the core interests of eco-travelers, and it’s no surprise why. Whales, the giants of the sea, are a wonderful and awe-inspiring sight to behold. No matter how far you travel to see these giants, the moment you first see a giant whale leap out from the water in front of you, you will not regret the trouble you went to get here.

If you come from a landlocked area and long to visit the ocean to catch a glimpse of these giants, here are some of the top destinations to go whale watching.

1. San Diego. Where can you go if you don’t want to travel too far for your whale watching excursion. Where maybe there are other attractions to check out, and where the weather’s almost always beyond pleasant? Although it may not be the most exotic destination on your list, San Diego is a good solid choice for whale watching, especially if you’re traveling with the family. If you are more interested in showing the kiddies a glimpse of a whale, the obvious choice is to visit Shamu at Sea World. But if you don’t get your fill of these great beasts at the world-renowned theme park, visit the famous San Diego bay to catch another glimpse. The whale watching season is during winter, with peak viewing months during December to early March.

2. Another accessible area to go whale watching without having to leave the country is in Cape Cod. In fact, the Atlantic waters around Cape Cod experience so much activity that the World Wildlife Fund has recently named Massachusetts as one of the world’s top whale watching destinations. Peak viewing months on these busy waters are April through October. Expect to see the famous humpback, finback, and minke whales represented here.

3. The Azores. This famous chain of islands owned by Portugal are a prime whale watching destination. The Azores are composed of nine volcanic islands where the water is rich in fishmaking it a prime feeding location for whales and other large mammals during the months of June to September. The most active whale watching spots can be found around the islands of Faial, Pico, and Sao Jorge.

4. Dominica. This remote Caribbean island was recently named ‘Whale Watching Capital of the Caribbean.’ Located between Guadeloupe and Martinique, Dominica experiences its highest whale activity during the months of December to March. Dominica tour guides boast that you have a 90% chance of seeing pigmy, sperm, and killer whales playing and mating during your visit.

5. Hawaii. Winter is prime time for whale watching in Hawaii. In fact, whale watching is such a well known past time here that the state animal is the humpback whale. Blessed with clear waters, Hawaii is one of the best places to get a clear view of these sea giants. The prime whale watching season ranges from November to April. All the islands afford chance sightings, but the best locations to get a good look are on the island of Maui.

6. Orcas Island. Off the coast of Washington state, lovers of marine life flock to this lovely island each spring to get a glimpse of the gray whales and orcas that gather around the 125 miles of coastline. Several cruises of these protected shores are available if you’re interested in getting a better look at these killer whales.

7. Kaikoura. Kaikoura is a small town located along the east coast of South Island, New Zealand. Kaikoura boasts one of the best spots for whale watching in the world. Destination San Antonio- From the Alamo to the Riverwalk

San Antonio is one of the top destinations for visitors to Texas. Even residents of Texas love to visit this beautiful city for weekend trips. This city has something to offer for everyone. Children and families will appreciate the entertainment of Fiesta Texas and Sea World and history buffs will love visiting the Alamo and other historical sites. Couples will find that there is nothing more romantic that walking along the River Walk in the evening.

San Antonio is a city that is steeped rich in culture and history. This city is rated as the eighth largest city in the United States, and while big, visitors certainly do not get the big town feel. To truly appreciate this city, you must understand a bit about the history. Before the Spanish explorers discovered the river in 1691, Native Americans called this area home. The Spanish soon built the Mission San Antonio de Valero, which in 1836 became the famous Alamo. The Alamo is one of the top places to visit in the city, as it is the site where 189 defenders held the mission against the Mexican troops for 13 days. It is here where Remember the Alamo became known as the rally cry for Texas independence.

Today, The Alamo remains a place that is carefully preserved for all to see. Not only can visitors walk the grounds of The Alamo, but also explore the actual inside of The Alamo and take in the shrine and museum located inside. Visitors to the area can also take tours of downtown San Antonio to see La Villita, which is one of the original settlements used by Spanish soldiers and their families. The San Fernando Cathedral, which was built in 1731, is also a popular place for travelers. Also, if you love Texas history, make sure you visit the Jose Antonio Navarro State Historical Park.
